Redlands Concert at EAS

Last Thursday, EAS had the privilege of having Redlands Adventist Academy as guests at their school. RAA was on their band and choir tour, heading north. The concert consisted of a concert band, a choir, and a large hand bells section that was made up of two separate hand bells ensembles. Some of the songs played and sang included a medley of songs from Victor Hugo's play Les Miserables sang by the choir and a hand bells adaptation of Good Vibration by the Beach Boys.
The highlight of the concert, although, was a special encore duet by a violinist and a cellist. The violin, Miclen Laipang, is an aspiring professional violinist. Miclen has played many significant concerts including concerts at the Music Teachers Association of California Convention and even playing the national anthem at a Los Angeles Lakers game! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CquRSTPC730

Having Redlands at EAS was a great privilege for the students and faculty.

Band and Choir Tour 2013

The EAS Concert Band and Choir tour has finally come and passed this last week. This year Ms. Swigart took the students to the Pacific Northwest, going all the way to Vancouver, Washington.
The students started off the tour on Wednesday morning last week, making their first stop in Redding, CA. The group quickly played a concert and set off for Roseburg, Oregon where they went to a bowling alley and stayed the night at a local Adventist school. The next day consisted of two concerts and ended in all of the students going shopping at a mall in the evening. They then went and stayed the night in the gym of Livingstone Adventist Academy in Salem, Oregon. The next morning the students played two concerts, one of which had a special debut of the EAS boy’s quintet, and then drove to the Family Fun Center. At the Family Fun Center, the students were able to race go karts and play mini golf. Once all of the fun was finished there, the students made their way to the Spaghetti Factory and ate a meal. Before going to sleep at Columbia Adventist Academy, they set up for the concert they would hold at the Vancouver Community Church the next morning. The morning consisted of two church services, at both of which the students played and sang. When church concluded the students drove to Multnomah Falls. After this the trip was over and the students drove home the next day.
EAS would like to thank everyone who supported or helped with the trip. If you would like to listen to the sermon from Saturday, you can find it at http://www.vancouveradventist.com/podcasts/1396/media_entries/18456
